The product is a computer. ( http://tinyurl.com/39arms )

So let's sort the whole thing a bit, shall we?

rudybago postet a link to an ebay auction in the google cache; this auction description contained the following part:

http://www.etrading-ltd.com/ I will also accept this process to make payment.

Meanwhile the auction description has been edited and the link is no longer there. Here's the current auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0188053702

But originally the link to etrading-ltd.com was in there; and that's certainly suspicious (to say the least). Could be a hijacked account (last feedback as seller is from August); could even be a genuine misunderstanding.

Just because someone Claims to use a "Safe" method, doesn't mean that it is safe.

Many of these scammers modify your HOSTS file and add an entry that bypasses DNS to resolve to the correct URL.

NEVER click on a link provided by the other party and be suspicious of ANY email that wants to Install anything (activeX, or other application) to view some image or other information.

Do a search for your "HOSTS" File (no extension) and open it up in Notepad. If there is anything (not preceded by a # sign) other than localhost the be suspicious. Particularly if the site you are intending to do business with IS listed in that file.

Hello,

THank you for verifying that ukdata.com is not a fraud website.

We are being listed by the fraudster as having 'licensed and bonded' their company. We do not and never will 'license or bond' any companies. We only provide financial reports.

As the owner of UK Data I am being affected as are Companies House in the UK, see:

http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/about/ ... isc1.shtml

Other sites I have found to seem to be part of the same fraud include:

http://www.ss-trading.net/index.php?cmd=contact_us
http://www.etrading-ltd.com/info.php
http://www.disclaimer-exchange.com/

I am building up a dossier of evidence, contacts and details about this fraud for the City of London police so please PM me if you have any information at all.

Kind Regards,

Alastair
