Please help determine if this is a fraud.....

Postby boschulm » Wed Mar 30, 2005 1:42 am

I am trying to start up a business and in the process of getting a supplier, they have asked to use an escrow company. The site is http://www.professional-centre.com

The site is pretty elaborate...

Please help me out here. I have been scammed before.... the Russian scam, need I say more.

Thank you very much.

I am going to give you the same advice I gave the last guy...

Go to http://escrow-fraud.pgardner.net/images.php and you will see that this design has been used many times by other fraudulent sites.

Don't be fooled by the verisign logo either.... Check it out. If you click the logo it pops up a window with all the righ info and even states that the site should be viewed from https://seal.verisign.com and indeed that is what you see in the title bar but NOT the address bar (because they hid it with javascript.) if you go to http://www.professional-centre.com/veri ... n_info.htm you will see the same thing but with the address bar and you will see that indeed it's a fraud.

For completeness...

Any way, you can judge for yoursel. Suffice it to say I judge this site is also a fraud.

I will add this one to my list.

Thank you very much! Your help means so much to me. I was wary, but the amount of work put into the site had me wavering between legit and fraud. Thanks, and not sure if I can post it here, please modify this post if I am wrong to do so...

The name of the individual is S.A. Carter [nununupleca@yahoo.co.uk]and he is supposedly selling laptop computers, brand new with warranty for factory prices. The website we found his "deal" on was http://www.ec21.com, listed as HP Pavilion ZD8000 17. After doing the inquiry and getting the "company info [Esen Comp]" an email is sent from S.A. Carter.

It is amazing how even someone like myself, trying to operate a small home business can get caught up in being defrauded, well almost, thanks to you saving me $$$. Thanks again.

I am glad I could help. (please consider a donation).

As far as posting if you can post the info here... As long as it's directed against those that insist on frauding others... Post all of it. Phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, etc.... the more we have the quicker they get shut down.

Detecting Fraud

Postby tbredtracy » Mon May 09, 2005 10:12 pm

You guys are really on top of things. In just looking at a few lists I was able to confirm the escrow service I was about to send money to was a fraud. The site was http://www.malankaexchange.com. Who do I notify to put this site on the list? or have them investigated?

Well, posting here is a start. I have added the image to my list ( http://escrow-fraud.pgardner.net/images/sites/Layout11 ), and the site to my page list ( http://escrow-fraud.pgardner.net/?page=reported a list of all sites we know of found to be fraudulent )

You could also consider reporting the site to the IFCC. Certainly you can present any proof to the ISP or HOST PROVIDER and ask them to shut it down. That's what I do. I compile the proof here in the forum and then send the provider/host an email and direct them to the forum with the proof and ask them to shut it down. Most are very receptive to that, some are more of a pain than that. Every bit helps though.

Thanks for the effort and keep it up.
