Levore.com and Hotpayments.com

Wen,

Thank you for contacting us. As far as your concern about the 2 sites you mentioned, I will take them one at a time:

http://WWW.HOTPAYMENTS.COM

I suspect this site to be a FRAUD. Why? First of all, it redirects to another webhosting service. So when you go to http://hotpayments.com you end up at http://hotpayments.netfirms.com It would be something different if it re-directed to somewhere within the hotpayments.com domain, but it does not.

Next, I check the WHOIS info http://samspade.org/t/whois?a=hotpaymen ... tnGo=Whois shows a creation date of 27-oct-2004. A mere week ago (from time of writing).

On the site, the contacts number located at http://hotpay.netfirms.com/contact.php comes back to a CELL PHONE http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/phon ... t1=Process .

The only Payment method is WESTERN UNION...... Even Western Union will tell you that you should ONLY use them when you personally KNOW the party you are sending money to.

Finally I will add that there seems to be some Address discrepency on their pages http://hotpay.netfirms.com/contact.php and http://hotpay.netfirms.com/privacy.php .

My advice...... AVOID this site.

Then there is:

http://WWW.LEVORE.COM

Well first of all this site looks very ESCROW.COMish, don't you think? I think they just changed the stylesheet.

Next, although they try to hide the TRUE verisign info with JavaScript if you navigate to http://www.levore.com/VeriSign.php you will see that this is a SELF generated page on LEVORE.COM, whereas a TRUE verisign secure site will have a link BACK to Verisign. In fact if you read the FAKE verisign page they have presented, you will see that they even Copied the Claim :

To ensure that this is a legitimate VeriSign Secure Site, make sure that:
1. The original URL of the site you are visiting comes from Levore.Com.
2. The URL of this page is https://digitalid.verisign.com.
3. The status of the Server ID is Valid.

And when you click on the REAL link I presented you can see that there is definitely a discrepency.

Finally, (if that wasn't proof enough), Checking the WHOIS http://samspade.org/t/whois?a=levore.com again shows a site with a creation date of less than a week ago.....

Advice? AVOID.

Thanks for pointing these out to me. I have added them to my database so others can search them (and avoid them).

Hi, I'm a new online shopper that is concerned about trusting the escrow companies, just like you. I stumbled across your site and am very interested. I'd like to know if http://www.hotpayments.com and Levore Escrow Com" @ <support@levore.com> is legit or not. I'm not sure if you can tell me this information. If not, could you please inform me about how to check or know if they are legit...such as signs or what they might say or how to check their other transactions/customers? I would really appreciate your help as you know that we are all afraid to be scammed out of our hard earned money. Thank you very much.
