Thanks, Georg

I do not understand all the technical information listed on the Data Detail Page of the escrow-fraud site but I appreciate the alert! I have no intention of transferring money to them.

How is it that a fraudulent company can use the VeriSign logo?

Are you able to explain some of this to me?

JoAnn

Georg

Here is the email I received. Also, here is the url for the post from Craigs List where I saw the tickets offered

Hello ,

I have moved to Jacksonville . Here is how i sell the tickets so you can inspect them before i receive payment and so we can both be protected . Go to http://www.me-groupinc.com , register with them, and get back to me when you have done that. Also read their pages so you know how they work. I will start a transaction with them as soon as you agree. They will take care of the shipping and of our transaction.

I will explain you how it works in steps :

1. I give them the tickets for packing and shipping
2. You send them the money
3. They send you the tickets
4. You receive the tickets and you will have a 3-30 days inspection period to inspect them and check them ( i will receive the money ONLY if you agree to keep the tickets , if not you will be fully refunded by the shipping company )
5. If all is OK and you decide to keep the tickets I will receive the payment

Let me know .

Thanks ,
Barry

They do NOT have a legitimate Verisign Logo. If you go to http://www.me-groupinc.com/splash.php you will see that they are actually hosting it themselves as opposed to it being hosted by Verisign (like it should be). To further illustrate that they do NOT have a Verisign security, go to https://www.me-groupinc.com/ (note the httpS) and you will see that there is no secure site enabled for that domain.

The S in https stands for SECURE (or more correctly SSL) Hyper Text Transport Protocol over SSL

Hope that helps.

Thank you to Georg and Peg and others...

It is always prudent to consider that if something looks too good to be true, it probably is. There are some really big scams out there and lots of people are buying into them with "wreckless abadon". I am very thankful for the help all of you have given!

With your advice I feel better equipped to spot internet fraud in the future.
