Hi there,

I have a UK client, wanting to transaction with a German client - the German client suggested using eco-trust.com as an escrow provider, obviously the UK client wants to use AuctionChex

I have never heard of eco-trust.com before now ??

Well they have been around (or at least registered) since 2004 which is typically longer than any fraudulent site would be registered.

I have to say that the SSL is not valid and not properly configured. That really concerns me. Additionally since their registration page ( http://www.eco-trust.com/registrierung.html ) is requesting banking information I would absolutely want SSL enabled.

Additionally they REQUIRE you to enter the Bank information. I would think that should be an OPTION based upon upon how one would chose to pay or be paid.

I also think that it's poorly designed. Their is supposedly an English and a German version, but the English portion has much of the site in German.

I will stop short of calling them a fraud, however, I would avoid them until, at a minimum, the above issues are resolved. Particularly the SSL and the Banking information. 2 BIG no-no's in my book.

That's not as easy as our "usual suspects".

eco-trust.com and eco-treuhand.de look both legit to me (both sites are operated by the same person, a lawyer). However I've found theat at least eco-treuhand.de is occasionally "impersonated" by scammers (of course, this happens to nearly all escrow companies).

One very well-known German computer magazine suggests using "eco-treuhand.de" for transactions; and a Google search turns up lots of other hits, many of them older and none hinting on anything wrong.

Disclaimer: I have no idea about the quality of service this provider offers. In my opinion the website leaves a lot to be desired.

I think it has flown under the radar as neither legit of fraud because it is inactive ?

If active and legit, it would have a mention of its use 'somehwere' and would even be known to this forum and database as legit.
