As most of you have seen on your site before, there are people out there that are out to scam on Autotrader and on eBay to sell cars. I found this manic on Craig's List.
I want to share these few emails from a person going by the alias Adam Kendall <adkendall36@yahoo.com>, trying to sell a 2005 Volvo XC90 Beautiful Suv - $5500 (jacksonville) in the local Jacksonville, Florida Craig's list. http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/cto/1266762633.html

Knowing that military personal can ship a car at no cost and this person had some intel, got to me. This person probably does have some knowledge about the military and he/she could write. My final email to them was this and I've not heard back from them, which prompted me to want to at least post their email online.

My husband is a retired LTC, US Army. We are seriously interested in this type of vehicle, BUT, this has the MO of a scam.
And IF, by some chance you are not a scammer, prove yourself by sending your name, rank, and last four to us, along with your present duty station, unit, and where you are headed in Iraq.
Email or Call us when you can and if we agree about the vehicle, send us a private sale on eBay to 'my ebay name' and we can pay you through PayPal so we can have some assurance this is all on the up and up. We cannot use any of eBay's services on Craig's list because this is NOT eBay, Adam, as you well know.
And if you are up to no good, do us both a favor and just do not bother contacting us again because you have never met a more honest or tenacious individual than I.
Furthermore, Adam, I pulled an Autocheck on the title and there is a lien on the title, and it's not 'clear' as you stated. A lien went on it when it was recently purchased. And you've not put miles on it at all since you've bought it? Houston, we do have a problem!
What goes around, eventually does come back around...and what boot catches your backside one day won't feel too good.

I received very similar e-mails regarding a travel trailer that was listed. The Craig's List post was flagged that day for removal before I figured out it was a scam. I had sent the first e-mail asking for more information on the trailer. This person is going by the alias of Michael Dietrich. Here's the first reply:
Thanks for your interest! I have divoced my wife and I no longer need this 2006 Fleetwood 3102 BDS. Used just a couple of times, the camper is in excellent condition, it has no problems, no cosmetic damage or hidden defects. All equipment and optionals work perfectly. My asking price is $2900, I have no need for this trailer and want to sell it fast.
I left it at a escrow company in Pine Bluff - Arkansas and it will be shipped from there free of charge for inspection, before you buy it. I need to sell it ASAP as I am undergoing military training, getting ready to be shipped to Iraq.

A report was sent to the hoster: from my previous experiences I would expect the site to be killed in about 24 to 36 hours.

He can't even spell and how DARE he use the MILITARY as his front. Someone should ship him off to Iraq and keep his a$$ there!! I am so upset that people like this can get away with it day after day. I sure hope NO ONE has fallen for his scam.

I surely hope no one has fallen for his scam. I found this add on craigslist, and kinda felt it was too good to be true since the book value of a camper as "immaculate" as he claims would be valued at $18,000+. I just hope this post can help some one else from avoiding this low life scum.

I almost fell for the scam, but luckily I found this website just by googling the false vin number provided.
This is the email sent to me:

I surely hope no one has fallen for his scam. I found this add on craigslist, and kinda felt it was too good to be true since the book value of a camper as "immaculate" as he claims would be valued at $18,000+. I just hope this post can help some one else from avoiding this low life scum.
