Looks like Im being frauded.

Postby TonyG » Tue Oct 11, 2005 2:50 am

I stumbled across an escrow type fraud starting on autotrader.com.
I came across an ad for a car selling at well below fair value. Alwayse looking for a deal I decided to look into it. I tried contacting the seller at the number autotrader provided me with and got a busy signal over and over. I contacted the seller through e-mail and he assured me that the autotrader info was correct and the car was really being sold for such a good deal. In the next e-mail he told me that the car was actually located in Ireland and that the price listed covered the cost of shipping. The next day the autotrader listing was removed, the seller told me that the add had simply expired. In the next e-mail the seller told me that
http://www.das-express.com would be handling the transaction and delivery. After researching this website I'm convinced that it is a scam. What steps can I take to help insure that these people are stopped? Other than autotrader who should I report this to?

Thank You,
Tonyg

Well first of all, please provide all the sellers details here. Resons are that one... It makes it hard for the Seller to use these (forged) credentials again, next is that Jaxhot needs the email to do something (search, reporting, not quite sure)

Then you could report it to their ISP and Webhost. You can find out that information through the WHOIS info http://escrow-fraud.pgardner.net/whois. ... xpress.com .

You could also file a complaint with the IFCC http://wwwi.ifccfbi.gov and/or the FTC http://www.ftc.gov

You could report it to the local authoritites, but they will likely do nothing as no crime (as of yet) against you has been committed.

Hope this helps and good luck
