Postby jdpalm3 » Thu Jul 24, 2008 7:32 pm

so i was almost a victim of a scam.

Here goes:

Found an Audi S4 on autotrader for 14 grand. It was an 05 with 20k miles. According to the guy, he is in the army and has 2 weeks to sell before being deployed. Car is worth over 30k easy. Came back to me with this.

>> Hello
>> Where are you from?
>> My car is in excellent condition, it has a clear and clean title and I'm
>> the only owner.
>> I'm selling it at this price because I need to pay my real estate debt
>> I'm in the US Army and I will be deployed in two weeks in Europe and I'm
>> gonna be there for couple years.
>> The price includes, shipping, insurance, inspection and title transfer
>> charges.
>> If you are serious, email me back and let get the ball rolling.
>> Thank you

> Hello again
> Please read my first email carefully.
> I'm in US Army, currently in in DC, but I will leave soon.
> I can't handle the transaction by myself.
> Because of that, I had the car shipped to CA and I will sell it only thru a fully bonded and insured third party company.
> This way, we are both secured and you will have a 5 days testing period
> prior to buying.
> The car will be professionally inspected on arrival at a local dealership
> and I will pay for shipping, insurance, inspection and title transfer
> charges.
> Let me know what you think and I will give you more info regarding the
> deal.
> Thank you

Hello again
As I told you in my first email, I'm selling thru third party. This way we
are both protected and you will have a 5 days testing period prior to
buying. The shipping company is Classic Title and Escrow Inc
http://www.classictitleinc.net.
In order to start the transaction I will need: your full name, shipping
address and phone number.
As soon as I have this info, I will contact them and I will start the
process.
The shipping company will delegate a transaction manager for us.
The payment must be made thru wire transfer in an escrow account managed by
the shipping's company representative.
The payment details can be found only on their website using the tracking
number provided in the invoice.
As soon as the deposit has been made the car will be released and will
arrive at your home address within 7 days.
I paid for Platinum Protection Program and that means that you will have a 5
days testing period and you can inspect the car to a local dealership at my
own cost.
If, after the inspection period you want to keep the car, the transaction
manager will help you with the registration process.
As I stated in my first email, the car is in excellent condition, clear
title and no scratches, no accidents, no dents, no dings.
If you can find anything wrong with the car, you must inform the transaction
manager and you get the full refund, no questions asked.
If you have more questions, please don't hesitate to ask but if you want to
get the ball rolling, please reply with the requested info
Thank you
