Another Victim of Escrow Fraud

Yes, Im another victim of Fraud. Im based in the UK.

I was selling my laptop on ebay. I really needed the extra cash being a student. I put my laptop on ebay, however it never sold and I was contacted via e-mail by a "Mike Rodriquez" about the possibility of him buying my laptop and he suggested http://www.triple-web-deal.com.
I went to check it out, it didnt look very professional and being in the I.T feild I should have known better, but I was new to escrow and therefore registered my details. I got an e-mail saying that triple-web-deal.com has recived my £2000 and wanted me to ship the item with UPS. I went through with this and shipped the Item to:

London
E5 9AE

After reciving no money I began to question the buyer and he eventually stopped responding. After doing most of my own detective work as the police were useless and UPS couldnt retrive the laptop, I discovered that Patrick Anderson DOES NOT reside at this address. The address above is a newsagents and they have PO Boxes for people. After Police investigation Patrick Anderson's post box has been shut. Meanwhile I still have no laptop and no money
I did however manage to get Patrick's mobile number and I will be speaking to London police about this in the hope of getting some form of compensation.
Anyone dealing with a Mike Rodriquez, Patrick Anderson please dont fall for his tricks. He's a very cunning guy and obviously knows what he's doing.
The newsagents number is 02088023377 and they have more information about Patrick Anderson if required.

Does anyone know if anything can be done about this?

I have heard your story told by so many and I myself can tell a very similar stroy. That is why I have developed this site.

The sad part is that you got a quick education for £2000, and you'll not likely see any compensation for it. As you have pointed out, the police are all but useless in most cases. I suspect that it's mainly across borders (very often international) and relatively low amounts. My loss of $1500+ dollars is a lot to me, but to the Police it's not enough to put forth the effort required.

My hope is that more people find this site (or many others like it) and post their questions or concerns. That way they get picked up by the search engines regularly. The more sites listed on escrow fraud on sites like this, the better it is to get them shut down quickly.

Red_Rach and others, it is exactly like the others tell you, little can be done about this! You will not get your f2000 or about $2800.00 Canadian back again, your laptop is lost to this Rodregez character, or whomever he really was.

More than likely, your laptop has already gone into the black market of organized crime scammers and will more than likely turn up in some Arab Terrorist organization in Britain, to be cheerfully used to bilk others of moneys that will be sent to bombers etc. Or your laptop will be sold at an "Honest Freddy's Emporium" as an used Laptop fetching some $700 Canadian to some unwary customer, whom not knowing it is stolen goods.

That is the sad truth of the matter, if it was a large company that had negotiated with these escrow scammers, say they scammed an entire warehouse into subselling all it's stock to the scammers, then they would be screaming their heads off and it would be international news.....but we have too many Conrad Blacks and Martha Stewarts already, saying "Ohhhhh it was my investment councilor that actually scammed you in our stock fraud.......not me, how could you think I would do something like this????!!!!! I have an honest face."
I am disgusted as an Canadian to know such people as Conrad Black........
.....if this is the face of Canadian Business, please put me up infront of an firing squad with Conrad Black as it's captain and let him order the guns fired! Conrad Black an honest former Canadian Businessman, Oh Spare Me......let him do 25 to life in an American Prison, but don't worry he will plea bargin with American Judges and get an 3yrs sentance and have to go on info commercials and speak of himself becomming a good citizen and washing his hands of crime.
