ebay escrow account

Postby richardbeal » Sun Jan 10, 2010 8:42 pm

Craigslist has a posting for a horse trailer that I'm interested in. The seller said I needed to pay through ebay and they would put the money in an escrow account for 5 days to give me a chance to inspect the trailer. If it wasn't as advertised ebay would refund the money.

Does eBay even have escrow accounts?

Think this is valid?

eBay has a so-called "vehicle protection program".

What is very likely going to happen is that you will receive a mail from someone claiming to be this "vehicle protection program", probably with a mail address that has "vpp" in it. There have been dozens if not hundreds of such mail domains in the last few months. Very recent examples:

awconfirm-vpp.com
vpp-vehicle-purchases.com
invoices-vpp-members.com
invoice-vpp-department.com

and numerous others.

So yes, I indeed don't think this is valid. However you might want to follow this a bit further to see if it indeed fits the above scenario.
