Escrow.com IS a legitimate site, however, ensure you are using the one and only escrow.com
Don't take an email response to send money as ok.... Always verify actions on the site. Also make sure you are not being a victim of pharming (see http://www.escrow-fraud.com/index.php?page=hosts for more details).
If you have any doubts bring the questions back here and ask.
Never send money by Western Union or Money gram (or similar). Be cautious even with Escrow.com.
