Ok.. This one seems fishy too. First of all the color choice looks like something out of a Commodore 64 or Tandy TRS80 Color Computer.

Any way, this is what I found.

First Thing I think of when I look at the WHOIS info is "Are we hiding?" Because they are using DOMAINS BY PROXY, it is much harder to use the WHOIS inf as a means to determining a fraud. That being said, it also makes me IMMEDIATELY suspicious.

Next, of course is the creation date of less than a month ago.

The lack of ANY REAL company info on the site (Real or made up for that fact).

The poorly designed site makes a poor impression on legitamcy as well.

Then of course we have the ever popular Verisign LOGO, which if accurate should take you to verisigns site. (with Verisigns address in the URL). However they hide that info using Javascript (to hide the address bar), but the site is still accessible by finding the RIGHT url. Which isn't hard in this case . If you go to http://www.bactone.com/verisign.html you will see the same thing as if you clicked the Verisign Logo. You will also note that the address is NOT https://seal.verisign.com as the page suggests that it should be. Also with Verisign, that is supposed to give you the security of SECURE online transactions, meaning that you should be able to use SSL or an httpS address. Well if you go to https://www.bactone.com you will find that this site does NOT support SSL.

Again, this is a simple one to say it's a Image

WOW!!! No we are moving into creating a fraudulent store front and refering to a fraudulent Escrow Site!

Indeed I Do not trust http://Averahty.Co.Uk This looks almost as phony as the escrow site Bactone.com.

Additionally, they put stuff in there to MAKE it look legit, as if the site has been VERIFIED. Like the link on the "Payment Page" that claims that the "The merchant's certificate has been validated" and to click on a link to prove it. Well the link is just a JAVA SCRIPT that pops up an alert message

I have duplicated it at http://escrow-fraud.pgardner.net/alert.htm

Then of course the WHOIS info

So they have only been in business for a month, and already they have a contract with DELL and Gateway? (I thought that Dell and Gateway didn't really do retail merchant sales.. Oh well)

Something just smells rotten about this site and given the association with BACTONE.COM, I would avoid BOTH!

There's more:

"Dear Chloe,
I've registered to the https://www.escrow.com/index.asp site. I think that it should be the same thing, cause it's always escrow.
Is it ok with it?"

"Hello Andrea,

We don't accept this company.

They really wanted me to use Bacton :?
