I have recently tried to purchase a vehicle with the payment being made through yardsalesdepot.com. The seller won't give any contact info and other services on the net call this a scam. When you research yardsalesdepot.com the reviews are good. Not sure what is going on here, but if anyone has any info, please post any info you may have.

It's fake. The domain has been registered on November 17; so it's just a little over a week old. The layout has been used before:

Could you show us a few of the reviews you're talking about? Sometimes the scammers post fake reviews and testimonials and it's always good to know which ones they are using.

In addition you may want to post a few more details about the deal, especially the name and email address used by the "seller" (which of course is the scammer himself).

Still fake.

Compare:

http://yardsalesdepot.wordpress.com/
http://onlineconsignmentgarage.wordpress.com/

Also nice:

http://yardsalesdepot.com/about_us.html

Read the biographies. For example this one:

"David Michael Jacobson has 25 years experience as a business owner, consultant and software sales executive. In 2002 he purchased the Postal Connections franchise store in Chandler, Arizona making that store a successful and profitable family business. Before joining Postal Connections , David sold his Arizona Postal Connections store in 2004. His diverse background brings to The Company a keen understanding of our current and future franchisees' interests and business goals."

"Postal connections"? Ah yes, that's http://www.postalconnections.com (which is far as I can see is completely legit).

Interestingly there you can find the exact same biography, except that the person in question is David Hurley...

So, still doubts about yardsalesdepot.com? They are as fake as it gets.

Probably not his real name, right. But it's important to post his email address (which you did - thank you) so people doing a Google search for it will find this thread.

If you already paid any money you indeed have been scammed, unfortunately.

You need to file a police report ASAP. If the money was sent by wire transfer you also might want to contact both your own bank and the receiving bank to see if anything can be done about this.

The site didn't exactly "disappear"; the hoster killed it.
