Dear peeps,

Recently I got to know this guy online and he claimed that he's sending me a parcel (some gifts) through the above mentioned website.

Unfortunately, I managed to find this website (http://escrow-fraud.com/gallery.php?layout=2) with exactly same layout except that they do not have online-payment feature in it.

It is either that the guy got scammed or he is trying to scam me. He gave me his mobile number but it is different from what shown when he is calling in. I suspected that he misuse service provided by http://www.magrathea-telecom.co.uk/ (base on my understanding, this service provider enables the client to divert call to overseas? kindly correct me if I'm wrong)to help him in achieving his ulterior motives.

Did anyone come through similar storyline before?

Many thanks.

Hello mostering;

one of the admins will probably moice the whole topic to "Escrow fraud" because it sure looks like one.

A few more details would be nice: Why the gifts? Is there some pending deal with your aquaintance?

And a few things to think about:

Why does this "company" call itself "Faltex Courier" on the logo, but "Faltex Courrier" in some of the texts (also in the domain name)
How does it come the domain was registered just 8 days ago when the company claims to have been established in 2001?
Would a real company use a template hat is the single one most overused template for fraudulent purposes?
Why is the registrant data in the whois information (which is pretty incomplete to start with) allegedly from somebody in the US, when the company is allegedly based in the UK:
Code: Select all
Registrant:
    jason tech
    jonhy        (jason@hotmail.com)
    grand avenue
    jat
    ny
    us
    New York,5223333
    US
    Tel. +1.33442222
    Fax. +1.22334242

Creation Date: 20-Oct-2008
Expiration Date: 20-Oct-2009

As I said: A few more details are needed.

Dear lightfair,

Thank you for your attention.

He claimed that he loves me so much and would like to send me some gifts. I actually chat with him through MSN this afternoon and asked if I need to give any tips to the courier guy and he said NO.

However, I decided to wait for the parcel to reach me and I am trying to gather help from friends to nab him down.

What do you reckon?

This sounds to me as if he tries to set you up for something. I'll ask around a bit to see if I can find out something.

Hi monstering,

I am honestly not sure what to think.

As lightfair has pointed out, "Faltex" is definitely a fake courier company. Make sure you don't send any money to them under any circumstances. If he's already said that he sent the parcel, then he's lying. (Can't send a package through a company that doesn't exist.)

The part where he says he's sending a gift because he likes you: this is typical operating pattern of a love scammer. They will send flowers, candy, even electronics sometimes, showering you with presents (often bought with a stolen credit card) so you'll believe in their good intentions.

But I'm baffled by the combination of the two. If he's a love scammer, he'd use a real courier because otherwise the presents will never arrive. If he's an escrow scammer, why is he saying the present is already on its way without you needing to pay anything?

I'd tread very, very carefully.

I called 999, and our dear police man said this to me "Hi Ma'am, we can't do anything because it's a scam, you can still lodge a police report if you want to."

What happened to this society?
