Frauders using false TNT and VitalExpress emails~! Beware!

Postby BigBlackBoxX » Wed Apr 20, 2005 12:56 am

Just a heads up, I have recently gotten emails from 2 companies offering an ESCROW like service. These people are trying to pass themselves off as someone elses legitimate business. http://www.tnt.com and http://www.vitalexpress.com. Both are legitimate shipping companies. Be wary of email offers from people claiming to be representatives of these companies offering a secure payment/shipping service.

These types of emails also come masquarding (sp) from eBay and Paypal as well (and probably many others). Their goal here is to generally get info (such as personal information and financial info) so they can use this stuff to create their bogus accounts. Even if they get away with it for a month, they still make a lot of money.

So if you find yourself being approached in this way, do not give them ANY info. If you are concerned that it Might be legit, then go to the website directly (by actually typing in the address and NOT clicking the links) and contact the site administration to verify validity.

This are commonly referred to as the PHISHING scams.

Thanks to BigBlackBoxX for the info.
