perfect-trade is a fraud!

Postby dela_niala » Mon Feb 07, 2005 4:27 pm

Here is what Mr Smith send me...so I guess case closed.
Stay away from this perfect trade!!!

My thanks go out to Fenton for making sure I was not a victim. Great Job!

From the domain registration:
Domain Name: PERFECT-TRADE.COM
Registrar: TUCOWS INC.
Whois Server: whois.opensrs.net
Referral URL: http://domainhelp.tucows.com
Name Server: DNS1.WEB.COM
Name Server: DNS2.WEB.COM
Status: ACTIVE
Updated Date: 11-jan-2005
Creation Date: 11-jan-2005
Expiration Date: 11-jan-2006

So, it's less than a month old and was registered for only a year. Compare that information with their copyright statement. Anyone who expects to be around for a while will use a two or five year registration. If this company was as large as they claim on their home page, you'd expect to find hundreds of references to them on Google.

This site hass no terms of use. The terms of use form part of the legal contract between you and the company. Never even consider using a service site that lacks this document. You need to be able to study it before you register with the company so you know what your rights and obligations will be once you register. Since this site claims that it is on an air force base, it is clear that mailing payments isn't a real option. The only other alternatives they have should never be used except when sending money to a close friend or family member. Never use Western Union or MoneyGram to send money to someone you are not very well acquainted with.

I'll get this into the database this morning.

First I took a look around (this layout is a new one so I haven't seen it before but it has been added to the list of images at http://escrow-fraud.com/images.php ) As usual I look at the WHOIS info

So at the time of this writing, this domain is not even a month old.

Next I looked at the "Contact Us" info. I noticed the address is at Dyees AFB. For those who don't know (including our beloved scammer) AFB stands for Air Force Base. Now I find it highly unusual that a Government Organization would partake in this and NOT mention Government affiliation.

Apparently our Scammer is to STUPID to realize this, so I sent him a message to educate him.. (also took an image so that if he realizes his mistake, I still have the proof.)

*for quicker loading I have cropped the image to make it's size smaller

Next, I go to google to see what I can find. When I search "perfect-trade" I get a large amount of hits, but unfortunately none of them deal with escrow (Google searches the 2 separate terms PERFECT and TRADE so I get lots of hits.)

So I try and narrow it down. I search "Perfect-trade" AND "escrow" Again, I don't get much on this site. I do however get something on perfect-trade.net and that IT'S a fraud (Go figure).

Finally, I go to the Phone number. the 254 area code is in Hillsboro, Texas. . Curisoity makes me wonder is Dyees AFB is in (or near) Hillsboro, Texas, So I go to http://www.dyess.af.mil/pa/news/news.htm and find a phone number (Lower Right of that page). There are 2 numbers. The first a DSN (Defense Switching Network) Which is NOT for the Civilian population and the Second, COMM (Commercial) which IS for the Civilian population..

Any way I check both out at http://www.areacodedownload.com/325/696/ (for Dyees as listed on the Military site) and http://www.areacodedownload.com/254/221/ (as listed on the Escrow site)
I find that indeed one is in Abielene (The AFB) and the other is in Hillsboro (Escrow sites CLAIMED location of the AFB). Again, nowing how Aera codes can be close, I took a look at the map. (Used Google to find them on mapquest) For your ease and comparison I have combined the 2 maps into one and labeled them. (they are the same scale too) It's easy to see they are more than just a few miles apart (Texas is the biggest state in the union, isn't it?)

I will waste no more time on this Image

It appears that after an email to web.com, the site has been taken down. I have not gotten an official notification from them yet, but I expect it will arrive in due time.

email to support team at web.com from This Sites Admin wrote:It has come to my attention through one of my users that you are hosting a fraudulant site on your servers. The site I refer to is http://www.perfect-trade.com

For more information on why this site has been deemed to be fraudulant I would refer you to my forum area and topic:
http://forum.escrow-fraud.com/viewtopic.php?t=78

I would request that you do all that is possible to have this site shutdown and kept down. It's also very likely that the site was paid for with false or stolen credit cards and you will also be out of the money.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Not my most eloquent request but the point is made in the short time I have.

Any way, thanks dela_niala for bringing this to our attention.
