VEMTEX LTD

Postby baltoed » Wed Dec 22, 2010 2:41 am

Trying hard not to be a victim. Trying to buy a vehicle and find its overseas. Seller wishes to use VEMTEX Ltd. too simple a website to me but its relocation-logistics.com

http://relocation-logistics.com/index.html
Vemtex is not, as yet, in your database. But soooo many fraud todate (over 11 thousand?) ....WOW..

Im thinking maybe I should just suggest one known escrow agent and see what Im told?

She wants to use a shipper that offers escrow..but using a differert escrow shouldnt prove difficult ..correct? Any one move in that direction. Of course if I get blown off the deal.. then I can come back and add a name to the list.

waiting to hear people..

thanks for any input

Let me guess: In the original ad it was not mentioned that it was overseas? And now perhaps there is some kind of backstory that the "seller" moved and now lives in a country where the steering wheel is on the other side?

Not all fake sites are in our database, naturally. But I'll look into it in a second.

My guess is that you will be told that the "seller" already paid the shipping/escrow company and doesn't want to lose this money.

So let's examine the site in question.

First thing that catches my eye is naturally the layout/design. This particular layout is not very well known to me; however it is clearly a variant of this one:

http://escrow-fraud.com/index.php?page= ... layout=172

If you compare the site to (for example) this screenshot:

http://escrow-fraud.com/images/test/eu- ... ia.com.jpg

you'll see lots of similarities, starting with the orange tabs and continuing with the text used.

This alone is not a sufficient sign of fraud since this particular design isn't as overused as some others and there still is a faint chance that a legit company uses this layout, too.

So let's have a at the registration data:

   Domain servers in listed order:
      NS39.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
      NS40.DOMAINCONTROL.COM

There are a couple of things. On the "may be legit" side we have:

The domain was registered over a year ago and for a span of five years. Most fake sites are registered only for a single year; and they usually don't last longer than a month.

Unfortunately we have a number of "very likely is fake" signs as well:

The alleged registration address is in the US while the company is allegedly based in the UK and Italy.
The registration date doesn't go well along with the claim to have been in business for over 20 years.

But the real zinger is the email address used by the registrant: muiescurta@yahoo.com

"muie scurta" is romanian; you'll find out yourself what that means...

And then you'll probably ask yourself why a UK company uses romanian slang in their email address (and especially such a particular slang term)...
