 I cannot beleive i have been conned, on 04 12 2003 i posted a consignment of 3 parcels containing data tapes and a hard drive to:

Alain Pascual
Strasser House
Eggenberger Gurtel 11
A-8020 Graz
Austria

It cost me £107.85 to post and I insured the contents for £2,000.00, In reality they were worth £3,500.00 and i sold them for £1,200.00 including the postage.

I haven't received any communication from them since i posted them and i just found this site :( I am trying to get the parcels back as they haven't been delivered yet but i don't hold out much hope. Parcelforce don't have anyone available until monday and that is when its due to be delivered.
The parcel is trackable and it appears it has left the country. :(

I have been unable to email parcel force so i filled in an online complaint form in the hope that someone will see it before they deliver

I have emailed the austrian police with the address but have heard nothing
Is there a solution, does anyone know?

Maybe if someone could phone the hotel and explain the situation to them they will hold all our goods and get them returned, maybe ask them to call in the police, or just the mail company to return the goods.

(20 packets a day, my god are we really all this gullible)

I'm sure we would all prefer to pay the postage than to lose our goods.

Can you do this?

Good news that he split, means he was rumbled and got scared, he's most likely moved on to another city setting up to do the same thing again.

I hope not

Yes, alert the authorities

Postby silver » Tue Dec 09, 2003 11:40 pm

Someone who speaks german needs to alert the authorities to this.
If the hotel has packages, perhaps they can turn them over to the
police or have them returned or better yet, JUST MAYBE the scammer
has called them and asked about picking them up and someone
can be waiting for him with handcuffs and arrest him!

Move on this quickly if you want to get your items back or get this scammer caught!
Ask how they paid for the hotel room.
Was it with a credit card? Who's name ?
Do they have cameras in the lobby?
Can the police get fingerprints from papers they signed?

the austrian police :-(

Postby scambuster » Wed Dec 10, 2003 9:43 am

since I read here last night I am calling austria and you have no idea how slow the austrian police is !!
no wonder the scammers operate there ...
I am still on the case and will report my findings :
1. the hotel owner got suspicious and confronted our Alain 1 week ago and he just escaped leaving everything behind...so many parcels still arrived at the hotel and she resent them to the senders
2. many parcels are still lying at the local postoffice in Graz and should be claimed ( no idea how)
3. seems our Alain has multiple passports and now moved to Vienna, but try to tell that the sleepy austrian police ! they really told me " the officer in charge is on holiday please call tomorrow"
4. every evening a car came to the hotel to pick up the parcels !!!!

more later
