Profesional-Deal.com - Fraud?

Postby BigBlackBoxX » Wed Apr 13, 2005 4:27 am

Hello, I stumbled accross this website while researching an escrow service( http://www.profesional-deal.com ) I was referred to by a seller. Found it strange I had never heard of the escrow service and half the links on thier site were broken.

I found this post http://forum.pgardner.net/viewtopic.php?t=92 and decided to do a whois. This is what I found.

Seemed strikingly similar!

Luckily I have not entered into any kind of transaction with this site. Im guessing this has fraud written all over it. What do ya think.

Given the creation date of the site (April 6th, 2005) I would mostly certainly consider this a fraud. That and the fact that they do not have SSL enabled either. Any site dealing with sensitive information should have the SSL enabled. Preferably by a trusted source but minimally by a self signed certificate.

Also as yuo pointed out.... the dead links... This one just smells of fraud.

Thanks for pointing this one out to us.

SSL stands for Secure Socket Layering. It's basically an encryption protocol that allows you to communicate with another computer (Web Server) and keeps the conversation "Private" between you.

If you are conductiong financial transactions on the internet, you definitely want SSL enabled (which means instead of http you should see httpS in the browsers address bar)

You can find more information at http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/S/SSL.html
